Today's Episode of Cognitive Dissonance

Sometimes life hands you a lot of great things, and you know you should be happy and grateful, but you can't help feeling something just isn't quite right.

Cognitive Dissonance: the state of having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as relating to behavioral decisions and attitude change.

I should feel grateful because...

Well, life is overall great.  Work, hobbies, friends, family.  We made it through the pandemic mostly unscathed.  Health and wealth, the two critical things you need.

At the same time...

Here we are, moving along, same same.  This is the hardest place to be, because it's literally just "a waiting game" as we work toward the long-term goals.  I remind myself it's critical to fill life with things that mean something, and the more I fill, the more energized I feel.

It's the habits and the consistency that creates the forward motion.  It doesn't always feel fast enough, interesting enough, or fun enough.  But there it is.  Forward is forward.

It’s critical to work toward goals but present us is just as important.  If we aren't feeling fulfilled, it's time to make some changes.

I wonder if I need to find another something.  New house, new space, new job, new hobby.  Something new to spice things up.  I always love new things, at least for a hot minute.
